Court orders to withhold Dhaandhoo Councillor Mifrah

Gaafu Alifu Dhaandhoo Court has declared void the decision by Dhaandhoo Council to give salary to Councillor Mifrah Khaleel for last month, for days that he failed to carry out his responsibilities as a councillor.

This case was filed to court by Dhaandhoo Councillor Imran Waheed.

Dhaandhoo Court ordered all relevant institutions yesterday, to halt all efforts related to implementing the decision by Dhaandhoo Council to give salary to Councillor Mifrah Khaleel for days that he failed to carry out his responsibilities as a councillor.

The order states that documents submitted to the court prove that Mifrah did not carry out his responsibilities as a councillor in January 2014, and that there is no legal basis to justify the provision of salary for days that he failed to carry out his responsibilities without an acceptable excuse.

Majority in Dhaandhoo Council is held by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
