The candidates who will contest on Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) ticket for Male’ seats in the upcoming Parliamentary Election scheduled for 22 March have been confirmed.
Voting in the Primaries took place on Saturday between 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., and the names of the winners were announced by PPM Secretary General Mohamed Zuhair.
Maafannu South Primary was won by Deputy Minister of Youth Abdulla Rifau, Maafannu Medhu Primary by Asma Rasheed, Maafannu West Primary by VB Sports Club goalkeeper Mohamed Sinaan, Mahchangolhi South Primary by Abdulla Shinaan, Mahchangolhi North Primary by writer Fathimath Nahla, Galolhu North Primary by Maheel Ali Jameel, Henveyru Medhu Primary by TVM presenter Aishath Liza, and Hulhuhenveyru Primary was won by Hassan Ziyath.
The party has not yet announced the results of the 17 atoll Primaries, also held yesterday.
PPM candidates will contest for 50 constituencies in the Parliamentary Election, and candidates have now been confirmed for 25 constituencies.
The party has forgone Primaries and granted tickets to 17 candidates, including 13 sitting MPs.
