Authorities begin search for missing local diver

Police and Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) diving teams have commenced search and rescue efforts to find 40-year-old Mohamed Jameel, a SCUBA diver who went missing after descending around the south-western corner of Vilimale’ this morning.

Mohamed Jameel was reported missing to the police around 9:20 a.m. The local diver was accompanied by three other individuals during the dive.

Police have asked local vessels travelling off the south-west coast of Vilimale’ to be on the look-out, and for locals to contact the police if they have any information on Mohamed Jameel of K Maafushi, Asseyri.
