Balotelli fined over gesture toward Cagliari fans

MILAN (AP) — Mario Balotelli has been fined 10,000 euros ($13,700) for making a crude hand gesture toward Cagliari fans after scoring for AC Milan in a league game on Sunday, the latest in a long list of disciplinary actions taken against the volatile striker.

The Italian league's disciplinary panel announced the penalty Monday, a day after Milan's 2-1 victory. Balotelli equalized from a free kick and then drew a yellow card for his gesture during his goal celebrations.

It was Balotelli's eighth booking of the season which earned him a one-match suspension, meaning he'll miss the home game against Torino on Saturday.

Balotelli served a three-match ban earlier this season for insulting a referee, and also faced disciplinary actions over various issues at previous clubs Manchester City and Inter Milan.
