Housing Ministry advises against following City Council

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has advised against working with City Council in its efforts to transfer all workshops and garages in Male’ to Thaisey Koshi.

City Council has decided to lease 48 slots at Thaisey Koshi for workshops and garages, and said that 80 parties had applied for these slots.

In an announcement, Housing Ministry said on Monday that City Council was informed on 22 December 2013 to, until further notice, halt all efforts to lease the slots at Thaisey Koshi.

The ministry further said that following this announcement, it will not be responsible for any financial loss or damage suffered by any group that participates in City Council’s efforts.

Housing Ministry also reminded of its announcement on 23 April 2012 about using lands owned by the state in accordance with laws and regulations.

Deputy Mayor of Male’ City Council Ibrahim Shujau told Sun Online earlier that 600 sq ft of land will be leased from Thaisey Koshi, and that parties that do not receive slots from Thaisey Koshi will be given slots at the western harbour area after it is developed.
