Civil Society Coalition leader dismissed from State Minister post

Abdulla Mohamed, leader of the Civil Society Coalition, has been dismissed from the post of Minister of State for Home Affairs.

Sun is aware that Abdulla’s letter of dismissal was delivered by the President's Office yesterday. Former president Dr Mohamed Waheed appointed Abdulla Mohamed to the post of State Minister for Home Affairs in March 2012, soon after the controversial change of power in February 2012.

Asked if he has been dismissed, Abdulla said that he is “beginning to smell something similar”, but did not provide details.

Abdulla has been trying to secure a government coalition ticket to compete for Nolhivaram constituency for the upcoming parliamentary election, to be held in March.

The former Dhivehi language teacher at Arabiyya School is regarded as the face of the National Movement that forced the annulment of the GMR contract.
