More than 1000 individuals including former Chief of Defence Force Moosa Ali Jaleel and Male’ City Council Member Lufshan Shakeeb (Loope) have joined the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
The new members handed over their membership forms to former president and PPM leader Maumoon Abdul Gayoom during a special ceremony at the PPM main office last night.
Speaking at the ceremony, former Moosa Ali Jaleel said he joined PPM because the opportunities to work for the country lies with the party.
Male’ City Council Member Lufshan said PPM has the best plans for the young people and that he will campaign for the party for upcoming elections.
PPM president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom welcomed the new members and said they have joined an effort that works for the progress of the country. He added that PPM’s development efforts will be based on the principles of Islam.
Maumoon also asked the new members to join the campaign and support PPM candidates for the upcoming local council and parliamentary elections.
