Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has said that Male’ City Council officials annoy and harass people who do not support Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), and assured that Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), if given the majority in Male’ City Council, would not carry out such activities.
Gayoom said this while speaking at a ceremony held last night to inaugurate the campaign office for Zaidhul Ameen, who will contest for Medhu-Henveiru constituency on PPM ticket in the Council Election.
Gayoom said that earlier, City Council officials unlawfully passed that his private residence Ma. Kinbigasdhoshuge should be taken over by the state.
He said that PPM would never carry out such profoundly immoral activities, and stressed that councils should not work for the benefit of a particular person or political party, rather, they should work with the government for the benefit of the people.
