Baggage tractors introduced at airport

A set of baggage tractors have been introduced at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA), as part of efforts to expand and improve services at INIA.

Maldives Airports Company Limited Private (MACL) said that the new baggage tractors were manufactured by an American company.

A ceremony attended by senior officials of the airport and airlines was held today to hand over the baggage tractors to drivers.

Speaking to the media after the ceremony, Managing Director of MACL Bandhu Ibrahim Saleem said that the baggage tractors were brought in under a program initiated by the company to speed-up ground handling services at INIA.

He said that more equipment will be brought in under this program which is part of the government’s first 100 day action plan.

Saleem said that four buses used to transport passengers to aircraft will also be purchased soon.

He said that about $5 million will be spent on this program, and that all the equipment will be brought in within the next two months.
