Vice President to head new Higher Education Council

President Abdulla Yameen has re-established the Council of Higher Education and appointed Vice President Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed as the head of the council.

The 15-member council include 8 other cabinet members including; Minister of Education Dr Aishath Shiham, Minister of Health and Gender Dr Mariyam Shakeela, Minister of Youth and Sports Mohamed Maleeh Jamaal, Minister of Finance and Treasury Abdulla Jihad, Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed, Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Dr Mohamed Shainee, Minister of Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Islamic Affairs Sheikh Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.

The council also includes; Chancellor of Maldives National University Dr Mohamed Zahir Hussain, Villa College Rector Ahmed Anwar, Deputy Education Minister Azleen Ahmed, Director General at the Department of Higher Education to Fathimath Amira, in addition to Dr Simad Saeed, Dr Ibrahim Hassan.
