TVM Director Ibbe demoted

Ibrahim Rasheed (Ibbe), Director in charge of the state broadcaster Television Maldives (TVM), has been demoted to the manager of the channel's training department.

“I was demoted to the manager of the training department yesterday. It was decided and passed by the board,” said Ibrahim Rasheed, who has been with TVM for the past 12 years and has served as the channel’s director for the past one year.

TVM’s spokesperson Abdulla Rameez told Sun today that Ibrahim Rasheed was demoted over publishing derogatory comments on social networking sites against major decisions of the board of directors of the Maldives Broadcasting Corporation.

Sun is aware that the cheered local television host was demoted over comments he had published on social websites stating that the religious sermon Andhalus, which was broadcast on TVM in the lead up to the presidential election, was politically motivated.
