Minister of Housing Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said that the project to construct 1,100 flats in Hulhumale’ will be implemented next month.
Speaking at a press conference this afternoon, Dr Muizzu said that the implementation of a social housing scheme has been included in the government’s 100-day action plan, and that the preparations for the construction of 1,100 flats in Hulhumale’ have been completed.
He said that this project was also passed by the cabinet last week.
Dr Muizzu said that out of the 1,100 flats, 385 will be financed by a loan from the government of India, and the remaining 715 will be financed by a loan from the government of China.
“The construction of flats with the assistance of the Indian government will commence at the end of next month. The construction of the remaining 715 flats will also commence soon. The 715 flats will be constructed under the government’s 1,500 flat project. The remaining 785 flats will be constructed in four southern atolls,” he said.
He said that the four southern atolls are Addu Atoll, Gnaviyani Atoll, Gaafu Alifu Atoll and Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
