Girl drowns in island near Kunburudhoo

A 16-year-girl has died from drowning near a sandbank off the coast of Alif Dhaalu Kunburudhoo today.

The girl has been identified as Fathimath Rifasha, Fiyaathoshige, Alif Dhaalu Mahibadhoo.

Police said the incident was reported around 1:44 p.m. and that it occurred while she was on a picnic on the sandbank.

Sun is aware that the girl was accompanied by her family on the picnic. Her body has been transported to a hospital.
