Fishing boat breaks in half at sea

A yellow fin tuna fishing boat from Gaafu Alif Gemanafushi has split in half while out at sea.

Sun is aware that the boat, named Oyevaru 2 and carrying 15 crewmen, broke in the middle while fishing off the coast of Gaafu Alif Kondey.

It is unclear if anyone was hurt in the incident.

Police said the incident was reported around 8:00 a.m. and that police and coast guard are on the scene and working to save the boat. Reports indicate that the boat is now being towed to the Gemanafushi with the help of other boats from the island.
