Budget increased again, this time by MVR 153 million

A further MVR 153 million has been added to the State Budget for 2014 by the Budget Committee.

The committee had earlier finalised its review of the MVR 17.7 billion budget and sent it to the parliament.

With this latest increase, which was proposed by parliamentarians of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), the total budget is now MVR 17.92 billion.

Pro-government members in the Budget Committee have agreed with MDP’s proposition to increase the budget by MVR 153 million.

The parliament is scheduled to vote on the budget tomorrow.

Budget Committee Member, Kulhudhuffushi-Uthuru MP Abdul Gafoor Moosa said that the MVR 153 million will be assigned to PSIP projects.

Gafoor said that voting will take place if the parliament completes its debate on the budget tomorrow.
