President reconstitutes Board of National Drug Agency

President Yameen Abdul Gayoom has reconstituted the Board of National Drug Agency and appointed Deputy Minister of Health Mohamed Mahir as the chairman of the board.

Other members appointed to the board include; Legal Affairs Secretary at the President’s Office Aishath Bisam, Executive Director at the Ministry of Home Affairs Hamid Yoosuf, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Naif Shaukath, Director General at the Ministry of Education Fathimath Azza, Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Ali Shahid Mohamed of the Maldives National Deference Force, Chief Inspector of Police Mohamed Rasheed, Assistant Commissioner of Customs Aminath Rasheed, Deputy Controller of Immigration and Emigration Abdullah Waheed and Mohamed Zubair, representative from Journey, a local NGO.

The National Drug Agency is a statutory body constituted under Article 26 (a) of the Drugs Act. Until today, the agency was headed by Lubna Mohamed Zahir Hussain.
