Woman connected to major drug dealer arrested

Police have arrested a 28-year-old woman believed to be connected to a major importer and distributor of drugs, who was arrested last week.

Police revealed that the woman was arrested around 11:00 p.m. last night from an apartment in Ma. Finifenjanbuge, owned by the man arrested on 16 December. Sun is aware that the two individuals are husband and wife.

The 30-year-old man was arrested on Monday night at the Majeedhee Magu - Chaandhanee Magu intersection. An inspection of the suspect’s apartment, Ma. Finifenjanbuge had revealed drugs and nearly MVR 150,000 in cash.

Police have recently commenced a number of operations to combat drugs in the country. In their 100-day road-map for the new government, police have announced a major offensive against the drugs and drug related crime in the country.
