Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has established a fire station in Lhaviyani Naifaru.
MNDF said that this is part of its policy to improve its services, and one of its goals to be achieved within the first 100 days of the new government, as announced by Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim earlier.
The fire station was inaugurated by Defence Minister Nazim at a ceremony held in Naifaru today.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nazim said that this is part of the efforts to ensure that fire and rescue services are established across the country over the next five years.
He announced that a fire station will soon be established in MNDF Central Area Laamu Kadhdhoo as well, which will also create job opportunities.
The ceremony was also attended by Chief of Defence Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam, MNDF Northern Area Acting Commander Colonel Abdulla Zuhry, Lhaviyani Atoll Council President Rishwan Ali, members of Lhaviyani Atoll Council, senior officials of government institutions in Naifaru, and members of the public.
