A Maldivian who went to Pakistan to study, has died in a bomb explosion while visiting Afghanistan.
The deceased is Amir Moosa, 28, of Asia, Gaafu Alifu Dhaandhoo.
Amir’s elder sister Nashidha Moosa told Sun Online that he died two months ago, and that the family was informed of his death yesterday by his wife who is presently in Pakistan.
“My brother went to Pakistan to study. We have been told by his wife that he has died in a bomb explosion while visiting Afghanistan,” she said.
Nashidha said that Amir has been living with his wife and four children in Pakistan since 2006.
She said that it is not known yet if Amir’s wife, who is also Maldivian, will return to Maldives with their four children following Amir’s death.
Referring to rumours going around regarding Amir’s death, Nashidha said that her brother did not belong to any extremist organisation, and that he never had any extremist views.
She said that he contacted the family regularly after he moved to Pakistan to study, but when they received the news of his death yesterday, it had been six months since they last heard from him.
