President nominates Maumoon Hameed for Prosecutor General

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has today proposed Maumoon Hameed as the new Prosecutor General for approval by the parliament.

In a statement released today, the President’s Office said that names of the other four applicants have also been forwarded to parliament for their consideration.

The five candidates who applied for the vacant Prosecutor General’s post are; Maumoon Hameed, former Tourism Minister Mariyam Zulfa, current Deputy Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem, State Prosecutor at the Prosecutor General’s Office Aishath Fazna Ahmed and Ismail Waheed.
