Expatriate worker falls to death at Villa Airport

An expatriate worker stationed at Villa Airport in Maamigili has died today from falling down from a 4-storey building under construction.

Ali Waheed, a site supervisor at Villa Construation said that the man who died was a Bangladeshi, by the name Arzun Miah, who was 32 years old. Waheed said that Miah was found on the floor by co-workers in the building, and that he was profusely bleeding at that time. “Blood was oozing out of his ears”, Waheed said.

Miah was immediately taken to Maamigili Health Centre, where doctors checked on him at once, only to find out that he was already dead.

Waheed said that Miah’s co-workers could not tell from where exactly he fell. According to the doctors at Maamigili Health Centre, lack of any visible bodily injury suggested that he did not fall from too high, but could have sustained a head injury during the fall, probably by hitting somewhere.
