High Court has issued a decision to hold a person accused of forcing a child into prostitution in custody for 15 days.
The case was appealed by Prosecutor General’s Office after Criminal Court decided to release the accused Mariyam Shizleena of Marida, S. Hithadhoo, due to lack of evidence.
The decision endorsed and issued by High court Judges Abbas Shareef, Yoosuf Hussain and Dr Azmiralda Zahir today says that investigations conducted into this case have revealed relations between Shizleena and that the child forced into prostitution.
Also, the people who have given evidence regarding this case include some who are related to Shizleena. The Court has issued the decisions to hold Shizleena in custody for 15 days because if released, she may influence those willing to provide evidence.
