Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has said that 31-year-old Ali Mumthaz, who fell into the sea from a fishing boat near Addu atoll more than 24 hours ago, has still not been found.
Efforts to find Mumthaz are still ongoing by MNDF Southern Area coast guard squadron, and to assist their efforts, the coast guard’s Iskandar speedboat was sent to the area this morning.
MNDF said that a 100 square nautical mile radius has been searched by the coast guard and air wing helicopter thus far.
Mumthaz, from Maradhoo-Feydhoo, Addu City, fell from a fishing boat named Sea Bird approximately 22 nautical miles south-east of Shangrila resort around 7:50 a.m. Wednesday morning.
MNDF has urged anyone who has information regarding this incident to come forward and contact the coast guard on 191, 3395981, or 3398898 as soon as possible.
