MNDF seeks fresh recruits

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has called for application of new recruits.

Media Officer at MNDF said the number of recruits to be selected will be decided after interviews.

Areas open for application are; Marine Corps, Special Forces, Fire and Rescue Services, Special Protection Group, Military Police, Medical Service, Corp of Engineers, Service Corp and Coast Guard.

Candidate must be a Maldivian citizen, have a General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O’ Level) or equivalent qualification, be between 18 and 28 years of age, be physically fit for military service and must not have a criminal conviction in the past five years. The minimum height requirement for male candidates is 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 3 inches for female candidates.

MNDF said the candidates must not have left the government through a severance program, or be a member of a political party, to be considered for service. Candidates must submit applications before 15 December.

A number of military officers including two Brigadier Generals have been recently dismissed from the force on charges of propagating discord and disclosing classified information to the public.
