NEWCASTLE, England (AP) — Moussa Sissoko's thunderbolt fired Newcastle into the Premier League's top five as the Magpies beat West Bromwich Albion 2-1 for a fourth successive victory.
The Frenchman's 57th-minute strike from 25 yards killed off a spirited fightback by West Brom after the Baggies had responded to Yoan Gouffran's 36th-minute opener to level within eight minutes of the restart through Chris Brunt's equally explosive finish.
Sissoko's effort ensured the Magpies collected a fourth straight league win for the first time since the closing stages of the 2011-12 season, when they went on to finish fifth.
However, West Brom gave as good as it got in an end-to-end encounter in front of a crowd of almost 50,000.
