New Immigration Controller appointed

President Abdulla Yameen has today appointed a new Controller of Immigration and Emigration.

The post was awarded to Hassan Ali, a former Police Station Inspector. According to the President’s Office, Hassan Ali was appointed at the level of Minister of State.

The Controller of Immigration and Emigration post has thus far been a Minister level post.

Dr Mohamed Ali, who held the Controller post prior to the new appointment, has been transferred to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs as a Minister of State.
