The people of Maldives are restless for development and craving for progress, said President Yameen, speaking today at the oath-taking ceremony of three new cabinet ministers.
“People elected us through vote to provide the services that they are impatiently waiting for. Our government, as you would know, is a PPM (Progressive Party of Maldives) coalition government. However, I would like to tell all Ministers that, if we agree on something and if they are on our manifestos, be sincere in your service to the people,” President Yameen said.
The cabinet works for the government, the President and the Vice President, said President Yameen. He said he has all the confidence in his newly assembled cabinet.
“I have no doubt that you will serve us loyally. I want my cabinet to be, God willing, hardworking to provide these services, invest a lot of time, to practically implement the projects, a cabinet that follows a proper timeline.
“The people have bestowed these responsibility with a lot of hope because they are eager, because they believe. We have no looking back, there is no room for failure. I am certain that although my cabinet consists of members from different parties, we all agree on one thing. That we will provide the services people are asking for,” President Yameen said.
He said that neighbouring countries, distant developing countries and partners from around the world are assuring new support for the newly elected government.
“Although domestic issues of political disagreements exist in the Maldives, our government has received tremendous support from the people. So, what we must do now to gain more approval, to increase support of the people, is to endure to serve with determination,” President Abdulla Yameen said.
