Former Attorney General Aishath Bisam has been appointed the Secretary of Legal Affairs at the President’s Office.
Sun is aware that Bisam received the appointment on Tuesday. An official comment could not be obtained from the President’s Office at the time of press..
The Legal Affairs Secretary post was held by Shamsul Falaah, a former Lieutenant at the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). Falah was dismissed when President Abdulla Yameen dismissed political appointees at the President’s Office after assuming office on Sunday.
During Dr Mohamed Waheed’s presidency, the then Deputy Attorney General General Aishath Bisam was appointed Attorney for two months and ten days until the parliament rejected her in a show of consent. She was appointed the Special Advisor to the President on 18 July.
