The candidate who wins the presidential runoff will be sworn in as the new President of Maldives during the parliament sitting tomorrow, Sunday.
Speaker of the Parliament Abdulla Shahid has written to MPs informing them that the oath-taking ceremony will be held in parliament tomorrow. The Speaker did not mention a time for the ceremony, but stated that details will be informed at a later time.
Article 114 of the constitution states that an incoming President or Vice President shall assume office upon taking and subscribing the relevant oath of office, before the Chief Justice or his designate, at a sitting of the Parliament.
