Elections Commission has today announced that 6,299 voters have re-registered for the second round of the presidential election.
Re-registration is required for voters who wish to cast their ballots from locations other than their permanent residences.
Elections Commission president Fuad Thaufeeq told Sun that all re-registration forms have now been processed.
“A total of 6,299 people have re-registered for the Saturday second round. All of their forms have been processed,” Fuad said.
He said the commission will be placing 475 ballot boxes in total, the same amount as the re-run first round held on 9 November. Voting will begin in 7:30 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday 16 November, the commissioner said.
He said polling times for overseas stations will also remain unchanged. Polling will continue from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in New Delhi, Trivandrum and Colombo, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in London, 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, all times in local of the respective countries.
