Ministers decide not to accept salaries after expiry of presidential term

The ministers of the current government have decided that they will not accept salaries for the days President Waheed remains in office after the expiry of his presidential term.

Speaking at a press conference held by the government today, Tourism Minister Ahmed Adheeb said that the ministers had discussed the issue earlier, and decided that they will not accept salaries from the day President Waheed’s presidential term ends, until Saturday.

Adheeb said that ministers will only go to work to attend to tasks that are absolutely necessary.

Speaking at the press conference, Minister of Environment and Energy Dr Maryam Shakeela said that the ministry had completed all work by 10 November, and that the government will continue to provide all necessary public services.
