Parliament agrees to form committees

Parliament agrees today to form committees as agreed by the party leaders yesterday after DR-PA coalition is abolished.

The agreed formation was passed by the vote of 62 out of 71 members. Three members voted against the formation. And there were three members who did not favor any side.

Speaker of the Parliament Hon. Abdulla Shahid asked the political parties to submit today the names of the MPs they wish to include in the committees. Shahid also said that the committee work will commence from tomorrow.

Still opposition holds the majority of the financial committee. MDP holds the majority of Economic committee and National security committee. MDP held Security services committee’s majority went to the opposition. There are 13 committees in the parliament.
