Police announce search for MP Hamid Abdul Gafoor

The police have announced that they are searching for Henveyru-south MP Hamid Abdul Gafoor.

The police said that the search follows a Criminal Court order to detain Hamid to take him to court.

Hamid was summoned by the court but failed to attend at 2:00 p.m. today.

The police have urged the public to contact Maldives Police Service Hotline at 3322111, or Police Custodial Department at 9991442 if they have any information regarding this matter.

The hearing scheduled for today of the case against Hamid, which accuses him of refusing to provide urine samples to the authorities following his arrest from Haa Dhaalu Hondaidhoo in November last year, was cancelled after he failed to show up.
