Deputy Minister for Ministry of Economic Development resigns

Deputy Minister for Ministry of Economic Development Mohamed Shiham Waheed has resigned from his post today.

Shiham told Sun that the decision follows his party, Dhivehi Rayythinge Party’s (DRP) departure from the coalition government. The letter of resignation was sent to the President’s Office today, Shiham said.

Leader of DRP Ahmed Thasmeen Ali has asked all DRP member holding political positions to resign.

Members of DRP, Chairman of Maldives Post Limited Ahmed Nizam and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hassan Saeed resigned from their posts yesterday.

However, two cabinet members holding DRP slots, Minister of Education Dr Asim Ahmed and Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Ahmed Shafeeu have not tendered their resignation.
