Might not be possible to deliver ballot papers to all islands in time: Police

The police have said that it might not be possible to deliver the ballot papers and the voters’ lists to the islands in time, before voting starts tomorrow.

The police said in a statement issued today, that police officials and vessels have been ready since last Wednesday to depart from Male’ with the ballot papers and voters’ lists, however, since the list was not finalised until 7:30 a.m. today and due to weather difficulties, it might not be possible to deliver ballot papers to all islands in time.

According to the Supreme Court ruling, the police must provide security in transporting the ballot papers to ballot stations.
