Maldives government has advised Maldivian living in India to be vigilant and observe the tropical cyclone Phailin, as it made landfall on the State of Orissa and surrounding states on Saturday.
In a statement dated 12th October, the Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on Maldivian living in Orissa and surrounding states to take adequate precautionary measures before the brunt of the storm hits landfall.
The statement advised Maldivians in Orissa and surrounding states to be pay heed to the cautions and directives issued by the Indian government.
The statement noted the efforts the Indian Government to prepare for the storm, with 28 teams currently active in the area to evacuate people within the path of the storm to safe areas.
Maldives Foreign Ministry also directed Maldivians living in the predicted path of the tropical cyclone Phailin to relay their personal details and information to the Maldives High Commission in Delhi.
