Local television station Raajje TV has resumed their transmission 10 hours after the station was subjected to a crippling arson attack, early Monday morning.
The station resumed their broadcast at 12:40 p.m.
Deputy CEO of Raajje TV Abdulla Yameen said that the station was able to resume their signal by using equipment received as contributions and borrowed from various parties. The signal is now being broadcast from a studio they had prepared for the presidential election, he said.
“People keep coming to us with different contributions. We managed to begin the transmission through a lot of effort,” Yameen said.
He said that all of their equipment, except an autocue used for the news segment, were burnt during the attack.
“That is the only thing that survived. It survived because it was stored a room deeper inside [the TV station],” Yameen said.
