Police request EC to take action against MDP

The police have requested the Elections Commission (EC) to take action against Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), for carrying out illegal activities at the series of protests held by the party in Male’.

The police stated in a letter sent to the EC, that the laws and regulations are being repeatedly violated by MDP during the protests.

The police said that the protesters also incite violence, attack and assault officers responsible for maintaining security at the protests, and cause damage to public property; and thus requested the EC to take action against the party.
