Police appeal for public assistance seeking man for vandalizing CCTV during protest

Maldives Police Service has published a video seeking a man who vandalizing a CCTV camera in Chaandhanee Magu, Orchid Magu intersection during a Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) protest on Saturday night.

The video shows a man wearing a helmet and wielding a stick, forcing his way through the police barricades near Chaandhanee Magu traffic lights.

A policeman is seen telling the man to move back into the crowd. The man however, starts threatening the policemen with the stick and edges forward. The same individual is seen breaking a CCTV camera in the same area, with his stick.

Police has appealed to the public to inform them through their Criminal Investigation Department number 9631696 or the Maldives Police Service Hotline 3322111, with any information regarding the suspect.

Police has assured to provide the necessary protection for any party or individual that provides relevant information and expressed their appreciation of public support in such cases.
