PPM calls to cancel diplomatic passports issued by Nasheed's administration

Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has called on the government to cancel all diplomatic passports issued during former president Mohamed Nasheed’s presidency.

Ibrahim Muaz Ali, spokesperson for PPM’s presidential candidate told Sun today that Nasheed's supporters are travelling under diplomatic passports, issued during Nasheed's presidency and campaigning to defame the Maldives.

“To humiliate Maldives, they are staging protests in foreign countries by using the diplomatic passports, issued by the Maldivian government,” Muaz said.

Muaz called on the government to promptly cancel the passports.

Travelling internationally and stating official state business, the holder of an international passport maybe granted a number of privileges by a state.
