Supreme Court orders to take action against those who violate court order

The Supreme Court has issued an order upon the security forces, to take action against those who violate the Supreme Court Order to postpone the second round of the presidential election, previously scheduled for Saturday, 28 September.

The court referred to article 237 of the Constitution and ordered the security forces to enforce the Supreme Court order to delay the second round of the presidential election, and to take action against those who violate this order.

The court also cited article 145 (c) of the Constitution, and said that the Supreme Court shall be the final authority on the interpretation of the Constitution, the law, or any other matter dealt with by a court of law.

The Supreme Court order issued tonight further states that according to Article 20 (b) of the Judicature Act, a Supreme Court ruling on a matter shall be conformed to by the Executive, the Parliament, the Judiciary, those in independent posts, state institutions, those holding state positions, the police and the defence force and all the citizens.

The second round of the presidential election has been postponed by the Supreme Court until the court delivers a verdict on the case filed by Jumhooree Party regarding the first round of the presidential election.
