President’s Office today said that consultations with the Maldives University were underway about a possible appointee as the new Chancellor of the University.
Abbas Adil Riza, Spokesperson of the President’s Office said that representatives of the President’s Office were already discussing the matter with senior officials of the University, and that as long as consultations are complete, President Waheed would appoint a new Chancellor for. Abbas also said that “the matter would not be delayed”.
“We are discussing with the University the issue, and as soon as we come to a common ground, the President would appoint new Chancellor”, said Abbas.
Former Chancelloer of the Maldives University Mustafa Luthufy resigned from his job, little more than a week after his political master Mohamed Nasheed resigned from presidency on the 7th of this month.
Dr. Hassan Hameed, the man behind the success and development of the Maldives National University is currently the Vice Chancellor.
