The Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has filed a case to the Supreme Court, requesting an injunction on second round voting of the presidential election, until the concerns surrounding the voters’ list are addressed.
Lawyer representing PPM, Ahmed Zaneen Adam, told Sun Online that the court has been requested for an order to ensure that the problems related to the voters’ list are solved, and to make it a list agreed to by all presidential candidates.
Zaneen said that the court has also been requested for an order upon the Elections Commission, to allow representatives of the candidates to monitor the printing of ballot papers, and the transport of ballot papers to the voting stations.
The first hearing on this case has been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. tomorrow.
