Adhaalath Party has said that the party will not be part of a coalition that supports presidential candidate of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), former president Mohamed Nasheed.
Adhaalath Party made this statement following a meeting between presidential candidate of Jumhooree Party (JP) Gasim Ibrahim, with Nasheed last night.
Speaking at a press conference at Adhaalath Party Office last night, spokesperson Ali Nizar said that the party stands firmly behind its assertion that it would not support Nasheed.
“Adhaalath Party is greatly concerned that Jumhooree Party Leader Honourable Gasim Ibrahim met with Nasheed,” said Nizar.
He said that Adhaalath Party will choose a candidate to support in the second round of the presidential election, and that this will be decided after the Supreme Court issues its ruling on the case filed in relation to the election.
He reiterated that Adhaalath Party will not, under any circumstance, support Nasheed.
