The Jumhooree Party (JP) has said that the Jumhooree Coalition has not filed any complaint to the Elections Commission claiming that votes were cast under the names of the deceased.
JP said in a statement today that the remark by Vice President of the Elections Commission, Ahmed Fayaz Hassan, that JP had filed a complaint claiming that votes were cast under the names of the deceased, is an outright lie.
JP said that the commission has refused to comply with repeated requests by the party to provide the voters’ lists, and that the party was facing obstructions in its efforts to conduct investigations based on the official documents provided by the commission.
JP said that there is no point in filing complaints to a commission in which the party had lost confidence, as long as the commission withholds documents requested by presidential candidates and tries to hide information.
JP also said in the statement, that instead of sharing its findings with the Elections Commission, its aim is to ensure that the court issues a fair ruling on the case of vote fraud filed to court by the party.
