Police have opened the council office of R. Innamaadhoo after it's door was bolted by some people because the council was unable to give a solution for the problem of boatsheds near Innamaadhoo School and pre-school.
Sub Inspector of police Ahmed Shiyam said that police went and opened the office when they were reported by the staff that the entrance to the office is blocked with wooden bars. He also said that they are investigating the matter further.
A person from Innamaadhoo said that the entrance to the council office was blocked in the night around seven, when the council did not take any action against the ongoing fiber works in the boatshed when it was complained to them since that is causing troubles to the students studying in the schools nearby. And he also said that council was preparing to give the boatsheds for another two years, even though the council is not receiving the rent money.
A person from that island reported that the police have interrogated with the people who bolted the office.
“Police were unhappy about bolting the door. But they told that if the boatsheds are being used illegally, they will attend to the matter too.” a person from the island said.
Some citizens of Innamaadhoo went to the office yesterday afternoon also to express that they are unhappy about the boatsheds. Sun is unable to get a word from the council yet.
