Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Ahmed Adheeb has refuted the claims suggesting that he and Minister of Finance Abdullah Jihad had leased Fushidhiggaru Falhu illegally to a foreign group for 50 years.
Adheeb said during a press conference held today, that the claims in this regard by PPM’s former interim vice president Umar Naseer are baseless and untrue.
Adheeb said that the document regarding the sale of Fushidhiggaru Falhu is ‘fake’, and that efforts were made during former president Mohamed Nasheed’s government to initiate a major project in that area.
He said that this project was initially continued by the current government as well, but has now been halted.
“I request Umar Naseer, ACC and other institutions to investigate this matter. I assure you, there’s no problem,” he said.
Adheeb also criticised running mate of the presidential candidate of Jumhooree Coalition, Dr Hassan Saeed, and made remarks to imply that Dr Hassan Saeed did not carry out his responsibilities in his earlier post as Advisor to the President.
“Dr Hassan Saeed was sent to the UK to talk to the media. But he couldn’t do that, instead we heard a leaked audio where he made fun of the president,” he said.
