The Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has opened campaign halls in Maafushi and Guraidhoo in Kaafu Atoll.
The campaign hall in Maafushi as inaugurated by the party’s presidential candidate Abdullah Yameen, who arrived in the island this morning.
At the ceremony, Yameen said that as mentioned in the party’s manifesto, PPM will establish a system whereby fishermen will still receive income even on the days that they are not able to catch fish.
Speaking at the ceremony, Leader of the Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) Ahmed Siyam Mohamed said that Yameen is the most capable of the presidential candidates, and repeated some of the promises made by the PPM-MDA coalition.
Speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate the campaign hall in Guraidhoo, Yameen said that he would find solutions to the problems arising due to the island’s damaged harbour.
At the ceremony held in Guraidhoo, Guraidhoo Council President Hussain Yameen, Guraidhoo Council Vice President Ahmed Liushan, and Guraidhoo Council Member Ibrahim Shaleez signed to join PPM. They were previously members of Gaumee Itthihad Party.
