Leader of MDA Ahmed Siyam Mohamed has said that we live in the Maldives brought to us by our ancestors, and that there will be no such thing as “the other Maldives”.
Siyam made this remark while speaking at a rally by the PPM-MDA coalition in Thaa Hirilandhoo today.
“You know, there will be no ‘other Maldives’. The Maldives is the Maldives. This Maldives was brought to us by our ancestors. God willing, we will develop this Maldives. We will make this Maldives a rich country,” he said.
He said that the government of the PPM-MDA coalition will bring about better health and education opportunities for the people.
He said that the Maldives is rich in terms of nature and can be developed to a better standard than even Singapore, and that this development has been promised by the PPM presidential candidate Abdullah Yameen.
He said that the hopes and dreams of Maldivians of 2008 have not been achieved, and that this was because former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom did not win the election.
He said that Gayoom lost that election because the people believed untruths spread about him by some leaders, and because of this, people have not been able to enjoy the benefits of the current Constitution.
The rally in Hirilandhoo was also attended by PPM presidential candidate Abdullah Yameen and PPM President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
