Di Vaio scores 2 goals in Impact's 5-0 win

MONTREAL (AP) — Marco Di Vaio scored two goals to lead the Montreal Impact to a 5-0 win over the Houston Dynamo on Saturday night to send the Impact to the top of the MLS Eastern conference.

Di Vaio and Felipe Martins scored minutes apart in the first half to put Montreal up by two. Jeb Brovsky made it 3-0 in the 58th minute and Di Vaio finished off a two-man break on a pass from Patrice Bernier for his fourth goal in two games.

Andrea Pisano added his first Major League Soccer goal and the Impact won its third straight at Saputo Stadium and take a two point lead at the top of the MLS East standings ahead of Sporting Kansas City and the New York Red Bulls.

Di Vaio opened the scoring with his 14th goal in the 35th minute. The 37-year-old Italian striker took a pass from Justin Mapp and shifted from his right foot to put a left-footed shot into the top left corner.

Felipe made it 2-0 in the 37th minute when he paused to curl a shot around Houston defender Kofi Sarkodie and inside the right post.

Brovsky scored his second goal of the season off a corner kick by Hernan Bernardello. Dynamo captain Brad Davis headed the kick, but it went to Brovsky who put it home from close range.

Bernier's unselfish play made it a four as he drove in and passed to his left for Di Vaio to put home his 15th goal.

Andrea Pisanu scored Montreal's fifth goal in stoppage time.

In Sandy, Utah, Kyle Beckerman scored a brace and Devon Sandoval and Luis Gil also scored as Real Salt Lake cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win over Columbus Crew.

The victory keeps Salt Lake atop the MLS West standings on 45 points, five clear of Los Angeles, which won 1-0 at Vancouver on Landon Donovan's 3rd minute strike.

FC Dallas was held to a 2-2 draw by San Jose in a match that saw three players — San Jose's Justin Morrow and Victor Bernardez, and FC Dallas' Kenny Cooper — sent off in the final ten minutes.

Also Saturday, lowly D.C. United drew 1-1 with Toronto FC.
